HALIBUT

At the time of this writing, approximately 74% of the halibut TAC has been landed, with increased effort in areas 2C, 3A and 3B during September. Fishing reports from the grounds remain mixed, while dock prices remain somewhat soft. There have been no sales of halibut quota in the last month. However, reduced prices are beginning to attract buyers, particularly in area 3A.

SABLEFISH

At the time of this writing, only 53% of the sablefish TAC has been landed, which is only a 6% increase since the last publication of IFQ news. It is reported that markets are already beginning to stop taking sablefish deliveries, a further indication that a significant amount of the TAC will remain unharvested. There have been no recent sales of sablefish quota, despite continued price reductions. We look forward to the day we can deliver a more positive summary of the IFQ market.
