HALIBUT

The 2024 Halibut season closed with 81% of the total TAC harvested. 91% of 3A, 88% of the 3B and 2C, and 44% of Area 4 IFQ were landed. Ex-vessel prices remained mostly stable throughout the year and improved late. Reports from the grounds indicated inconsistent catch rates.. Supply of QS for sale continues to outpace demand. Sales activity will remain limited until the IPHC makes its recommendations.

SABLEFISH

The Sablefish QS market was again very slow throughout 2024. Weak ex-vessel prices, large TACs, and high availability of leased IFQ resulted in reduced sales activity, even at significantly reduced asking prices. 40% of the TAC was left in the water, state-wide. 2025 harvest limits will remain relatively flat. It's unlikely that the market will change significantly until ex-vessel prices improve.
