HALIBUT

81% of the halibut TAC was landed in 2024, with 3.2 million pounds total left in the water. Areas 2C and 3A had 88% of their IFQ landed, Area 3A was 91% landed. 55% of all Area 4 IFQ went unharvested. At the time of this writing we are awaiting 2025 harvest specifications from the IPHC. We expect market activity will commence once harvesters begin making fish plans for 2025.

SABLEFISH

60% of the sablefish TAC was landed in 2024, with 24.2 million pounds left in the water, the majority of which was allocated to areas AI, BS, and CG. 2024 was another challenging year for harvestors with mediocre ex-vessel prices. The market for sablefish QS in 2024 was again very slow. We expect market activity to remain limited through 2025 unless ex-vessel prices improve or IFQ asking prices contine to be reduced.
